About ATS Aurora Watch

ATS Aurora Watch is a live view of the aurora borealis and australis. Every five minutes it reads the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center's OVATION model, a one-degree global grid of visible-aurora probability covering both hemispheres, and draws it as color-ramped cells over a dark basemap, so both auroral ovals appear within seconds of load. A visibility threshold hides the faintest cells, and any cell can be clicked to read its probability. Alongside the map, a space-weather dashboard tracks the live planetary Kp index with NOAA storm labels, solar-wind speed, and the Bt and Bz components of the interplanetary magnetic field, and a three-day aurora outlook from NOAA's Kp forecast shows when the next storm window is due in your own time zone.
