ATS Ring of Fire shows the planet's seismic pulse in near real time. Every earthquake of the past seven days from the United States Geological Survey feed is plotted along the world's tectonic plate boundaries, with marker size encoding magnitude and color encoding depth; quakes less than a day old breathe with an animated halo. Sharing the map are 1,196 Holocene volcanoes from the Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program, with live United States volcano alert levels overplotted as they change. Both feeds refresh every five minutes, so the map keeps pace with the record while the plate boundaries give every event its tectonic context.
